I have written three jazz guitar improv books for Alfred Music Publishing (formerly Warner Brothers Publishing). The books pretty much define, explain and give examples of, basic European harmony and African rhythms as they apply to jazz improvisation. Book one is called “Swing To Bebop”. It covers the major scale and it’s modes. Book two is called “Bebop and Beyond”. It covers the ascending melodic minor scale and it’s modes. Book three is called “Organ Trio Blues”. It covers minor pentatonic scales and their modes. These books are easily available to buy on the internet from sites such as Amazon.com. You should also be able to buy them at your local music store. Below you will find a little preview of each book. I have included the table of contents and two example pages from each book. I will periodically update the example pages. |
